Have you ever found someone saying rather unflattering things about you, and then they say something nice to your face, not realizing that you know about other things you've said? It's . . . almost amusing, in a weird kind of way, even if they do know that you know and are being intentionally insulting. Particularly if there's no connection between the two people, because then there aren't even any social/business ties to preserve, and no reason to keep up a pretense of friendliness.

Painter news: patch for 11 came out recently. I should have mentioned this earlier, since it came out last week IIRC (so early there doesn't seem to be much discussion of the patch — maybe on CA, I don't know), but I've been busy IRL. There's not a huge difference in performance from what I can tell, except that the program is using less CPU when the window's minimized or it's inactive. I wasn't getting a lot of the bugs to begin with, though, so I don't know what kind of net impact it has for people who were getting critical errors. Like not actually being able to open the program to begin with.
